FROGFOOT have advised that the replacement fibre cable has now been successfully pulled into place on both sides of the break. This was a longer cable run (in excess of 1km), which contributed to the time required to complete this step. The onsite teams are now preparing to install the joint enclosure manhole, after which they can begin the fibre optic splicing process to connect the new cable into the existing line. Once splicing is complete, the team will then need to perform testing to confirm stability before services can be restored. FROGFOOT have not communicated an ETR, however as splicing has not yet commenced, we foresee several more hours of work still required. Weโ€™ll continue to provide updates as they become available.

FROGFOOT have reported that additional damage was unfortunately inflicted this morning by the local municipality working along Welgevonden Blvd, which severed the backbone fibre cable. Cable replacement is once again underway by teams working onsite. Once the cable has been pulled into position, the fibre optic splicing team will then need to perform additional splicing work to connect the new cable. No ETR has been communicated by FROGFOOT at this stage, but given the extent of the damage and work to be done, we foresee a few more hours of downtime. We'll provide updates as they become available.

It appears services are once again offline, following last nights service outage caused by damage to the fibre infrastructure by construction work. While services had been briefly restored this morning, connectivity was lost again shortly after 08:00. We have escalated with FROGFOOT who are once again investigating. We'll provide updates as they become available.
